What are Sunday services like?
Neighborhood Church’s Sunday service normally includes music, hymns, readings, and sermon. We have many special services and themes throughout the year.

How do I get to church?
We are located at 301 North Orange Grove Blvd in Pasadena, CA. Click here for an area map. For driving directions from your location, click here.

Where do I park?
We have a parking lot in front of the church on Orange Grove Boulevard and street parking along the residential street, Arroyo Terrace. On busy Sundays, the Pasadena Museum of History (located on the corner of Walnut and Orange Grove) also offer us extra parking in their parking lot.

What should I wear?
We are a diverse congregation. Some people dress up and some dress casually. Wear what feels comfortable to you.

Is there Sunday School or childcare for my child(ren)?
We offer childcare for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Youth Religious Education classes are offered from children in kindergarten through high school. Your child(ren) are most welcome to join us. Please click here from more information.

Can my child(ren) stay with me in service?
Children are welcome in the service, though most are in our Religious Education classes. We also have a special area in our nathex (foyer) for families to worship together with their infants or younger children.

Who attends Neighborhood Church?
We are a congregation of about 675 adult members from the greater Los Angeles County region. Our diverse religious community comes from many traditions. Many of our members were raised in other religious traditions and bring a variety of spiritual experiences. Our members are single and married, gay and straight. Some have children, others do not. Our campus and worship service are handicap accessible.

What is a Welcoming Congregation?
Formally recognized and accredited by the Unitarian Universalist Association, a Welcoming Congregation is one that publicly and intentionally welcomes bisexual, gay, lesbian, and/or transgender people as members, friends, and guests. Neighborhood Church celebrates the lives of all people and have taken an active and empowered stand against oppression on the basis of affectional orientation.

How do I get involved?
Come to church, attend a service, stay for coffee, check out our many tables and activities each Sunday. Participate in some of our social events, volunteer for a social justice project, sign up for a class or lecture. However you choose to get involved, connecting with other newcomers or long time members is vital to a full and rich life at church.

Do I need to become a member?
You are welcome to participate in all or our programs and activities. There are a number of activities and programs that can help you decide if Neighborhood Church is right for you. Attend Sunday service, take a class, meet other folks on our patio, or volunteer for a social justice project. After you get to know us a bit better, we ask that you consider membership and joining us as a formal member of the congregation.

How do I become a member?
There are a number of steps that you can take to decide if you’d like to join the church. We recommend joining us for our introductory class, New to Neighborhood, held on Saturday mornings throughout the year. Our Bridging Group orientation seminar is also a good way to lean more about Unitarian Universalism, the church, and membership. After carefully deciding if Neighborhood Church is right for you, you become an official member by completing a membership card (available at the Welcome Table, in the office, or from any staff or board member) and making a financial commitment to the Church. Shortly thereafter, our Membership Coordinator will contact you to answer any questions and chat about what you are seeking in a spiritual home and how we can help you find ways to get connected.

What are the responsibilities of membership?

  1. Be present - attend regularly and bring your authentic self.
  2. Grow your own faith – develop a spiritual life.
  3. Make this your community - connect with others.
  4. Give of yourself in three ways each year: help our children, volunteer for a social justice project, and care for those in need.
  5. Support the Church financially by making an annual pledge.

Who can I contact with other questions?
Email or call our membership coordinator, Kim Hayden, at 626.449.3470.
