Newcomer Activities
|
As a newcomer, a great way to explore Neighborhood Church
is getting involved in some of our groups and activities.
Below is a list of a few groups to check out - you are
welcome to participate in all of our activities. The Welcome
Table volunteers or Membership Coordinator (Kim Hayden,
626.449.3470) can help you find the right group and answer
any questions you may have.
Newcomer Gatherings & Events
- New to Neighborhood: orientation class held throughout the year
- Newcomer & new member potlucks

Bridging Groups: four-week long introduction to the
Church and Unitarian Universalism beginning this summer
Social Groups & Events
- Neighborhood Suppers: potlucks hosted in various member homes

Voyagers (Very Old Young Adult Group): 25 35ish
year old members gather for brunches, games nights, and more.

Rainbow Families: activities and support for same gender
parents, in partnership with the LA Gay & Lesbian
Center
- People of Color: activities and discussion that address issues of diversity

Dining For Dollars: member-hosted meals and activities
throughout the year (proceeds benefit the Church)
- de Benneville Pines: summer & winter camp in San Bernardino Mountains
Music
- Neighborhood Chorus: Sing at 1st or 2nd service; Thursday evening rehearsals
- Neighborhood Bell Choir: Monday night rehearsals
Social Justice
- Social Justice Knitting: every other Wednesday evening
- Esperanza homebuilding in Tijuana
- Habitat for Humanity
- Seventh Principle Committee: environmental initiatives
- Union Station homeless shelter

Discussion & Covenant Groups
- Chalice Circles: Discussion groups that explore UU topics
- Writing as a Spiritual Activity: Sundays between services
